Download the appropriate application form and complete it accurately. Present your application along with your course certification at the police department in your city or town of residence or business.

Two personal references (when applicable)
Details of past criminal convictions, felonies, domestic violence history, mental illness, or drug/alcohol addiction
Proof of completion of a Massachusetts state-certified firearms safety course
Required fee payment

Application Process and Timeline

Application Requirements Your application must include:

Applications are reviewed and either approved or denied within sixty (60) days from the date of submission. To check your application status, contact your local department or the Department of Criminal Justice Information Services (DCJIS) at (617) 660-4722.

Upon approval, your Massachusetts firearms license is valid for six (6) years.

Utah Concealed Carry Permit Certification

The Utah Concealed Carry Certification allows you to carry a concealed handgun in over 32 states legally.

If you travel within the United States, obtaining a Utah CCW permit provides expanded reciprocity and broader legal carry privileges.

Upon completion, students receive a certificate and everything needed to submit their Utah application during class.

Live Fire Training

Live Fire Training is available to students certified through New England Firearms Academy. Certification with the New England Firearms Academy is required to book a session. Individuals certified by other academies should pursue further training through their respective academies.

This class is designed for students who have completed a Basic Firearms Safety Class and want to develop defensive shooting fundamentals.

What You Will Learn

Proper grip and stance
Sight alignment and sight picture
Trigger control
Sighted vs unsighted fire (point shooting)
Proper presentation of a firearm from the holster
Multiple target engagement

Students also receive equipment evaluation to determine what works best and why.
